Rural Lanes, farms etc

1. Please can you prioritise maintenance of rural lanes. The cobs/dyke backs are overgrown, the lanes have narrowed because of this, drains are covered over.  The attention to the lower part of hedges has been missed for many years, which means the overgrowth is substantial. Rain water completely misses the drains and the drains are constantly blocked.  The drains are old and obviously the pipes will be old, all are in desperate need of upgrading.

2. Our farmers needs support in their work and maintenance of our beautiful countryside. Farmers know the land and know how to maintain it and the surroundings. Using their knowledge would be very beneficial to the council.

3. maintenance of becks and streams from the tops has not been a priority for many years. Wiers have collapsed, which is a shame as they are important in reducing flooding.

4. why do the fishing groups have the rights? Why can't this be decided by the council? The reservoirs would be amazing locations for low impact water sports, picnics and wildlife habitats.

5. The increase in land owned by horse owners has increased dramatically over the years. Unfortunately, they are often untidy areas, that are not maintained, with haphazard stables erected here and there, training areas roughly created. Please can their be a report, list of standards required to ensure these places are maintained and not detrimental to the beautiful landscape.  The amount of horse droppings on lanes has also increased, this needs addressing.

As you can see several ideas as listed 1-5 above.

All my ideas are important, because if we look forward 25 years, if maintenance of our land, lanes and waterways is not maintained and respected, then I am afraid the  the rural landscape will be diminished.  There will be no views, no green aspects, less trees, less habitat, no people enjoying the countryside and more carbon emissions as housing developments increase in numbers.
