Ensure sufficient homes are provided to meet local needs, across the whole Council area, this should include a good range of types, sizes and tenures and include affordable housing, housing for older people and people with specialist needs, and family housing.

To ensure that people are able to find an appropriate home to meet their needs in their local area.

    Actual affordable housing is needed in the Furness area ( under £ 200,000) too many hmo and apartments that are being used bb transient population are being approved.
    Upgrade run down terraced houses.

    Is it possible to conduct a survey of longer term empty properties (if there are any) and look at ways of bringing them back into use?
    Historically there have been schemes such as living over the shop which identified space above commercial properties which could be safely converted into self contained apartments. Could this be looked at as a possibility?
    By affordable do you just mean people can afford to buy or rent or do you also mean afford to run and maintain them? Apart from grants which seem to be available to some low energy rated homes what else is on offer for upgrading thermal efficiency?
